When 16-year-old boy stepped onto the platform, gold confetti fell, the audience screamed, and the youngster stood there, shivering and astonished, as his life changed forever…

In 2006, the well-known reality competition show America’s Got Talent debuted. The show showcases a variety of performers, including singers, dancers, magicians, comedians, and other creatives, in front of a panel of judges and an audience. The event’s popularity can be attributed to the artists, who come from all walks of life and represent a wide range of ethnicities, cultures, and genres.

Since it sends the candidate to the quarterfinals and beyond the following round (judge cuts), most people are aware that receiving a “Golden Buzzer” during the audition process is the ultimate goal. The host receives the fifth, and each judge receives one of the five.

Finally, almost everyone is aware that Simon Cowell, one of the show’s creators, is one of its harshest critics. It’s a huge accomplishment to get a small favor or a compliment from him.

All of this contributes to the amazing performance of Christian Guardino, a 16-year-old from Patchogue, New York, who sang “Who’s Loving You” by the Jackson Five. After he finished, Simon told him that he “needed about ten seconds” to think of what to say since he was so moved by Christian’s performance. His amazing voice genuinely shocked the judges and the audience. Howie gave him the Golden Buzzer a minute or two later.

But this was by no means the height of a young Christian’s accomplishments. He informed the judges that he lost his sight as a young child due to a rare illness called Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA). His greatest escape was music, and he stayed steadfastly committed to it even when advancements in technology allowed him to regain his sight.
