Everything changed when this terrified 19-year-old entered the spotlight; the judges got up, seemingly sensing a storm was building. Then she opened her mouth, releasing a voice straight out of a 1905 classic, full of emotion and history. The mood was tight, with every breath held in suspense.
At first, her hands shook, but fear gradually gave way to strength and beauty. It was like watching someone explode; it was more than just singing. Because they were afraid that even a whisper would destroy the moment, the crowd hardly moved. The entire crowd went silent as that last note hung in the air, trembling and beautiful—jaws dropped, eyes hazy, hearts stuck somewhere between then and now.
The 19-year-old vocalist Somer Smith was ecstatic to be invited to take part in The Voice Australia’s blind auditions. But because it was her first time performing in front of others and she was accustomed to singing only for her family, she was truly terrified. However, she will perform today in front of thousands of people, including Kelly Rowland, Boy George, Delta Goodrem, and Joe Jonas, all of whom are well-known judges.

As she said in her pre-audition interview, Somer was horrified yet determined to win over at least one judge. She sung a hymn called “His Eye Is on the Sparrow,” which was composed by Gospel Hymn in 1905. She was genuinely shivering as she took the stage, so she took a few moments to collect herself before starting to sing. Her voice was weak and thin at first, but by the end, it was amazing.
One chair turned and she became Delta Goodrem after they sang for a while. Joe Jonas soon joined Boy and Kelly as they hit the buttons on their chairs, following Delta Goodrem. The roar of applause and Smith’s beautiful, strong voice filled the room. She was obviously meant to do this by the judges, who watched her sing and marveled at every moment of her performance.

The whole crowd stood and cheered Somer on when she was done. Each judge pushed her to join their team as they competed for her. “We just found a star in you,” Goodrem tells her. “I joined this show because of your voice,” Jonas added. Your tone was quite powerful and beautiful from the start.
Somer was surprised; she had hoped that only one judge would vote for her before the performance, but all of them wanted her on their side, thus she chose to be on side Kelly. “Very beautiful voice!” Oh my god! Goosebumps appear. Whoa.
Remember to tell your friends and family about Somer Smith’s performance if you enjoyed it.
