A young child came onto the platform, gripping his mother’s hand like it was the only solid thing in the world, as the lights faded. And when they started singing, even Simon Cowell, the hardest to please, leaned in with big eyes and a slightly open mouth, stunned…

Duets, in my opinion, are greatly undervalued. Even if I value a great solo performance, two people can convey a depth that no other technique can. One of the most pleasant musical sounds is a vocal pair harmonizing with one another. However, the fact that this particular performance is a ballad between a mother and son makes it much more special!

The 15-year-old Jamie had applied to go on Britain’s Got Talent with the intention of traveling alone, but he decided a few days prior to the audition that he couldn’t. Instead of retreating, he turned to his mother for support. Mel happily agreed because singing at nursing homes was part of her day job. And the result was amazing.

The judges take note of the two’s amazing bond prior to the song. Jamie’s voice is amazing when she starts to sing “Say Something” by A Great Big World. The performance is enhanced when Mel joins him in harmony!

Mothers in the audience started crying, and the two were given a standing ovation. After seeing the heartwarming movie in its entirety below, please leave us a Facebook comment with your thoughts!
