The 22-year-old TikTok inventor Tia Zakher’s skincare regimen—or rather, her choice to completely forgo one—has garnered widespread notice and generated intense discussion. No water, no cleansers, no serums.
Her “do-nothing” strategy immediately sparked interest and debate on the platform. While some of her fans expressed concern over her health, many others accused her of fabricating her skin journey.
After years of experimenting with every acne therapy she could find, including chemical peels, topical treatments, microneedling, and exfoliation, Zakher started her minimalist experiment on March 14.
She gave up caressing her face completely since she was dissatisfied with the short-term effects. That meant no products, no washing, and no plucking. Nothing.
She initially kept the choice a secret from her expanding TikTok following, which currently stands at over 125,000. However, by April, remarks in the comments were triggered by noticeable changes in her complexion, such as flakiness, discolouration, and a harsh texture.
In response, Zakher shared a video that went viral and had over 10 million views, outlining her bold new strategy.
She referred to it as the “caveman” regimen—a phrase she came up online while looking up comparable techniques—and said that it is a component of a natural skin healing process. (She added that the moniker wasn’t something she came up with.)
Zakher’s story contributes to the expanding discussion about what it means to trust your body and the internet with your face, as TikTok remains a platform where users record anything from beauty rituals to chronic illnesses.
