Mom has inspiring response after daughter calls her fat

It hurts when someone is called “fat.” However, why is that actually the case?

After a mother of two named Allison told her story of what happened when she went swimming with her kids recently, everyone was left wondering. Allison responded brilliantly when the 30-year-old’s daughter called her obese, and her reply is currently going viral on the internet.

Allison Kimmey began dieting at the age of 14. Through graduate school, she managed to keep her weight between a size two and a size four, but it wasn’t easy, and she wasn’t content.

Allison reached a size eight three years ago at the age of 27, and she came to the realization that she would be happier if she let herself stop fighting her weight gain.

Allison created the @allisonkimmey Instagram account to inspire herself, sharing images and motivation. Allison’s body positivity inspires her followers and spreads happiness, yet not everyone hears her vital message.

Mom Allison recently took her daughter and son to the pool. Allison’s daughter was upset and called her fat when it was time to leave. On Instagram, Allison details the incident:

“What did you say about me?” I asked.

Her: “Mama, I told you you were obese. I apologize.

Me: “Let’s discuss it. In actuality, I am not overweight. Nobody is overweight. There is no way to be it. I do, however, have fat. Everybody has fat. By giving us energy, it keeps our bodies functioning and safeguards our bones and muscles. Are you fat?

Her: “Yes! I have some on my stomach right now.

Me: “You’re right! Both your brother and I agree!

“I don’t have any fat,” her brother said. I have the thinnest body. All I have are muscles.

Me: “The truth is that everyone on the planet has body fat. However, we all have varying amounts.

Her brother: “That’s correct! I have several to keep my large muscles safe! However, you have more than I do.

Me: “That’s accurate. There are those who have a lot and those who have very little. However, that does not imply that one is superior to the other. Do you both get it?

Both: “Mama, yes.”

“So, could you repeat what I said?” I asked.

Them: “Yes! Everyone has fat, and it’s acceptable to have different types of fat. Therefore, I shouldn’t state that someone is obese because you can’t be just fat.

Me: “That’s exactly right!”

In addition to teaching her kids how to interact with others, mother Allison believed it was critical to promote the idea that all people are created equal, regardless of their physical characteristics. Her Instagram post has now gone viral.

Allison writes, “I am demonstrating that it is an offensive term and perpetuating the stigma that being overweight is unworthy, repulsive, funny, and undesirable if I shame my kids for using it.”

What a motivating mother! Instead of criticizing one another based on appearances, we should do a better job of supporting one another. If you agree, share!
