This duet of “In the Ghetto” hit so hard that Elvis himself would have halted in mid-step, his mouth hanging open. It was evident from the very first note, as though everyone in the room was holding their breath. Like tales spoken over the kitchen table, each word carried the weight of difficult times and hurt feelings.
It was more than just harmony when their voices merged; it was enchantment, as though a greater force was at work. It was an unfiltered, fluff-free feeling. It was more than just a tribute to Elvis; it seemed as though the spirit of the song had returned. You could practically hear the King tipping his hat from the sky if you paid close attention.
Every singing talent competition has a different structure, but they all have a single round where contestants face off against each other. They are referred to as battle rounds in The Voice series, where two singers duet on a single song on the same stage and one is chosen as the winner.
The interesting thing about the Voice fight rounds is that they can produce performances that surpass a lot of the solo performances that initially advanced the singers to the following round. This performance is so amazing that you’ll question how the judges could have passed up either talent.

It is a somber reflection on the challenges faced by ghetto dwellers and how their environment greatly affects their destiny. Over the years, other vocalists have recorded the song, turning it into an anthem for the impoverished.
