Twelve months after the passing of his cherished wife, actor Warwick Davis has disclosed that he has fallen in love once more.
Samantha Davis passed away in March of last year at the age of 53. Warwick and their two kids confirmed the tragic news at the time. Speaking with Jonathan Ross on the host’s chat show, the actor has now revealed a new important someone in his life.
Jonathan questioned Warwick about his poignant BAFTAs address, in which he spoke about an unidentified individual who had been assisting him in his grief, during the Saturday interview. Regarding the new woman in his life, the Harry Potter star stayed mum, calling her “Sponge” or “She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named.”Warwick Davis, who received the British Academy’s highest honor, the BAFTA Fellowship, last month, gave a moving eulogy to his late wife, Samantha. The 55-year-old Star Wars veteran gave Samantha an emotional dedication for his prize.

In his moving statement, Warwick expressed his thoughts on life after his late wife’s passing and thanked her for her unfailing support throughout his career. But most of all, he said, “I want to dedicate and thank my wonderful wife Sammy, who passed away almost a year ago.”
She always encouraged me to seize every chance I got and was incredibly supportive of my job. But I quickly saw that her excitement for me taking on a certain function was frequently correlated with her desire for that high-end purse.
Although it has been difficult for him to deal with his loss, Warwick thanked their kids, Annabelle and Harrison, for allowing him to continue being active and participating in life. “Special mention too should go to Sponge,” he said, fighting back tears as he shared his story of rediscovering love again. You are aware of who you are. I appreciate you enabling me laugh and fall in love again, as well as proving to me that life may still have purpose.
Shortly after Warwick’s wife Samantha passed away at the age of 53, this heartbreaking speech was given. In March 2024, he acknowledged the sad news and made a heartfelt statement about how her passing left a huge hole in their family’s lives. Samantha was his “most trusted confidante and an ardent supporter of everything I did in my career,” according to Warwick.
The couple had two kids and had been together for 33 years. Their romance started on the set of the 1988 movie Willow, when Samantha, then just 16 years old, was an extra and Warwick, then 17, landed the starring role of Willow Ufgood. Immediately, sparks erupted between them.

In 1991, four years after their magical meeting, they exchanged nuptials and added four children to their family. But when their son, Lloyd, unexpectedly died at the age of nine days, they were devastated. Following in her father’s footsteps, their 27-year-old daughter Anabelle Davis has established a lucrative acting career with parts in Hollyoaks and The Dumping Ground.
After two previous losses prior to the arrival of Annabelle and Harrison, the family tragically also had to deal with the loss of another son, George, during pregnancy. “Before Annabelle and Harrison, we had a baby boy, Lloyd, who inherited both our conditions… and that is something that proves fatal,” Warwick revealed in an open interview with Bear Grylls in 2019. It’s something that a newborn won’t survive,” he continued. However, Lloyd lived for nine days, and yes, he was gorgeous. It was a difficult period. Yes, we also had a stillborn child.
Warwick reveals that these difficult circumstances only made his relationship with his wife, Samantha, stronger, despite the pain of their losses. Warwick was previously told he wouldn’t walk or live past his teens due to a rare genetic disease called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SED).
Samantha, however, had the most prevalent type of dwarfism, achondroplasia. Harrison and Annabelle, their kids, also suffer from SED. Samantha’s family was terrified as she battled sepsis in 2018, which might have been fatal, following surgery. “I broke down every night thinking that this terrible illness that came out of nowhere might take my soulmate away from me,” Warwick told The Sun about those depressing days.
Later, in 2022, Warwick acknowledged that Samantha was still coping with “some PTSD from her experience,” and he disclosed that he was also having difficulties with it. Warwick honored Samantha’s tenacious and happy disposition following her passing last year. He recalled, “She had a wicked sense of humor, always saw the bright side of things, and always laughed at my bad jokes. She was a unique character.”
“Mum is our best friend and we’re honored to have received a love like hers,” their children said in remembrance of their mother. I felt like I could accomplish anything with her at my side; it was like having a superpower.
Warwick said that he would not have had the Tenable quiz show or the Willow series without his wife’s constant support, attributing his career successes to her. Series 3 of No Idiot Abroad. She had a strong desire to assist others without passing judgment. She genuinely listened and had time for everyone.
