When a teenage guitarist joined a band on stage and played a classic rock song, he astounded the festival crowd. Ten-year-old Jake Collinson and his parents went to the Painshill festival in Cobham, Surrey, England. “Let Me Play Guitar With You” was written on a handcrafted sign he carried.
While performing with the RPJ Band, Rick Parfitt Junior, the son of the late Status Quo musician, noticed the placard. “That’s a bit of a risk,” Rick cautioned the audience as he read it out loud. After Jake nodded happily, he took the child on stage to test his musical prowess.

Rick asked Jake what his favorite band was because he had a show at the Isle of Wight Festival the following evening. In response, Jake played “Guns N’ Roses” and said he wanted to play “Sweet Child of Mine,” which is known for Slash’s iconic guitar solo. Rick was shocked to see Jake’s guitar on stage and questioned, “Are you serious?”
To the roughly 5,000 spectators, Rick said, “This could either be incredible or… incredible, obviously.” After then, Jake began playing the song’s entrance and stunned everyone with his amazing performance.
With the remark, “Can’t believe this happened,” Jake posted a video of his performance to his Instagram page. “I believe it went smoothly.”
