Long periods of time in a shelter can be extremely detrimental to a dog. Many shelters see dogs who were previously happy and hopeful lose their spirits after months of rejection.
For instance, Major, a shelter dog from Indiana, has been sobbing uncontrollably for almost 260 days after his previous owners turned him away. His shelter friends, though, are still holding out hope that he will eventually find the right family. The Hamilton County Humane Society in Indiana is caring for Major, a four-year-old mixed terrier and pitbull.

Major has been residing in the shelter ever since. According to the Humane Society, Major was a “sweet and sensitive” dog who enjoyed playing with his Jolly Ball and was initially in a good mood despite his heartbreaking rejection. According to the description, Major is a “true companion with a big heart.” The crew nicknamed him “Major hunk” and “Major heartthrob” and described him as a handsome child. Unfortunately, Major’s great qualities did not please everyone, and as the months went by, adopters kept passing Major by.
Because of his frequent rejection, Major’s good attitude has gotten worse, according to the shelter workers. The humane society claims that on Facebook, “his spunky personality is dimming.” “This happy boy who used to love balls now sits in his room and cries all the time.”
They say the kennels are stressing him out, so he is currently in the shelter’s visiting area. But they understand that the only practical solution is to locate Major a permanent home as soon as possible. Major would do very well in a home without little children or pets.
Since he gets along well with other dogs but isn’t always conscious of his own power, it is advised to meet and greet him. There must be someone out there who would be the perfect home for this gentle and active dog, even though Major might not suit in with every household. “This is the one for you if you’re ready to welcome a loving, strong, and playful friend into your life,” reads Major’s adoption page.

It’s terrible to see Major so lost and dejected after all this time in the shelter. We sincerely hope he finds a new home quickly! Please share this post to help us get the word out about this adorable puppy!
