On the AGT stage, a single father of three stood by himself, his heart heavy with love, sorrow, and the determination to keep going. It wasn’t until years after his wife died in a terrible accident that he finally took a deep breath and let the music to guide him.
His voice broke with intense emotion as he sang Phil Collins’ classic; each note was laced with memories, hope, and loss. The crowd fell silent, waiting for every word. His performance was so powerful that by the time he finished, the judges were crying and the whole crowd was in awe.
The most recent America’s Got Talent audition also featured Matt Mauser, who has a horrible family history.
With the support of friends, he found solace in singing and music after losing his wife and the mothers of his three children in an accident last year. When Matt Mauser first appeared on a previous American talent program, he sang the English singer and musician Phil Collins’ original song, “Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now).”
He began by sharing a tragic family story about how he lost his soulmate, his beloved wife, in a helicopter accident last year. Kobe Bryant, an NBA player, perished in the same helicopter accident.
