During the second audition episode of Season 17, the 23-year-old and his band sang Milligan’s original single, “Sounds Like Something I’d Do.” The audience erupted in cheers at his opening note, and the judges, who all cast “Yes” votes, observed that the song already had the sound of a Top 40 hit.

The native of Fort Worth, Texas, mentioned during the performance that he was inspired to pursue a career in singing by a certain rock and roll icon.
