According to Howie Mandel, AGT may have discovered Drake Milligan, “the new Elvis of country.”
During the second audition episode of Season 17, the 23-year-old and his band sang Milligan’s original single, “Sounds Like Something I’d Do.” The audience erupted in cheers at his opening note, and the judges, who all cast “Yes” votes, observed that the song already had the sound of a Top 40 hit.
Simon Cowell remarked, “A good song is a good song in my opinion, and you’re very likeable.”
Heidi Klum remarked, “I also love that you guys are a band.” “I think you guys are ideal for America’s Got Talent because we don’t have many bands yet.”
The native of Fort Worth, Texas, mentioned during the performance that he was inspired to pursue a career in singing by a certain rock and roll icon. I was captivated by an Elvis impersonator at a restaurant when I was around seven years old and dining with my family. I believe that’s when I made the decision to emulate Elvis,” Milligan remarked.
