Simon Cowell, a 60-year-old business magnate and X-Factor judge, stunned viewers by crying live on television after a heartfelt charity single performance. Following the heartwarming event, fans were pretty alarmed.
Two organizations that offer palliative care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families are Together for Short Lives and Shooting Star, both of which Simon strongly supports. To support these charities, the endearing song was performed.
Dermot O’Leary, the host, gently encouraged Simon to express his emotions by saying, “I know how much these organizations mean to you, Simon.” Will you say something? Simon buried his face, mumbled, “Oh God,” and began to cry because he was so overtaken with emotion.
Lauren Silverman, Simon’s fiancée, hurried to embrace him on stage as his co-star Nicole Scherzinger tried to calm him down as well. In the meantime, Louis Walsh stood silently, obviously perplexed by the circumstances.
When Dermot saw Simon struggling, he quickly redirected the cameras and soothed him, saying, “You don’t need to say anything more, Simon.” Thank you.
Like many of the audience members, Simon was brought to tears by the performance. The proceeds from the charity single will benefit both groups. Shooting Star provides hospice care for children with life-limiting illnesses, while Together for Short Lives assists families in coping with the loss of a child who has an incurable illness.
Simon’s fervent response revealed his unwavering commitment to these goals. Simon has consistently supported charity projects, particularly those that help children and animals, since becoming a patron of Together for Short Lives in 2009.
