Sharing the stage with the people you care about is a really unique experience. It’s a wonderful chance to show off your skills and strengthen your family ties at the same time. Sidney Kimble West and her father, Sam West, were a sight to behold when they took the stage at the 2020 National SHAG Dance Championships. Everyone was profoundly moved and left with a lasting impact by their amazing performance of Ben E. King’s timeless song, “Stand By Me.”
Sidney and Sam’s grave expressions instantly brightened with joy as the music began to play. Their feet appeared to glide smoothly across the dance floor, precisely timed to the song’s beat. It was a very mesmerizing scene, full of elegance, beauty, and an unbreakable camaraderie that only a close-knit group can have.
Their dancing performance was more than just a show of skill. The occasion served as a touching reminder of the unique bond between a father and daughter and was a true celebration of their shared love of dancing.
Inspired by his mother, Sam West’s love of dancing began when he was just nine years old. He fell in love with dancing right away, and during his school years, he had remarkable success, winning two junior national titles with his partner, Terri Alberty.
In addition to winning first place, Sam and Sydney were the 2020 overall winners!
Sidney Kimble West and Sam West’s enduring father-daughter dance will take you to tears as they elegantly sway to the mesmerizing tune of “Stand By Me.”
