However, there were risks associated with being the center of attention. Connie described how a mature guy tried to approach her in a horrifying way by pretending to be a journalist.

“(Fame) exposed me to the darker sides of the world that a child probably wouldn’t hear about until later in life,” he said in reference to the Deep YouTube channel.

We were approached by a journalist who was supposedly employed for a newspaper, but it turned out that he was exclusively interested in kids.

“I was fortunate to have my parents’ protection, but that was probably the first time I realized how important safety was to me.”

Connie’s parents were so concerned about her safety after her first appearance on the ITV talent show that they sent a bodyguard to go with her to school.

“When I first left the show, I remember having a 6’10” bodyguard named Danny,” she said. He went to school with me every day and played with me in the playground.

That individuals were climbing trees outside my school to take pictures of a girl in a uniform is terrible.

I’ve had people tell me, “I thought you’d be an idiot, but you’re nice.” People assume you’ll be arrogant.

“Just have fun” was the mantra, she said when asked if she was taken care of during her stint on Britain’s Got Talent. “In my head, I was Leona Lewis on stage singing Over the Rainbow,” she said.
